These protein-rich snacks quickly supply the body with new protein and new energy during high physical exertion.
They contain no chemical additives and are made from rice protein or pea protein. You can also get highly effective protein bars in various fruit variations with a peanut or chocolate taste.
The high protein content supports muscle building, activates energy reserves in competitive athletes, bodybuilding, fitness training or even at work.
A protein bar is an extremely practical snack which immediately provides high-quality protein & energy for the body and muscles.
The vegan protein-rich diet has these advantages:
Of course, when there are advantages, there are disadvantages too.
If you are aware of these and you only use the bars as a supplement instead of a meal replacement, then that’s good!
It's best to eat a protein bar after workout. Taking additional protein after daily exercise can lead to reduced muscle soreness and signs of muscle damage.
However, it doesn't matter if you eat it for breakfast or for a snack.
What’s important is you cover your daily protein needs.
However, you should make sure that you consume about 20 g (or more) of protein in the first 2-3 hours after a workout to stimulate protein synthesis.
Basically, you can eat as many protein bars as you want. However, we recommend that you eat not more than 1 or 2 a day.
Protein bars are nutritional supplements which means they are just an addition to your normal diet.
So make sure you eat a varied diet with lots of fruits and vegetables to ensure you have adequate supply of vitamins and minerals.
You should also alternate your protein sources. So sometimes grab meat, fish, eggs or various legumes. Or if you’re vegan, try nuts and seeds instead of green leafy vegetables.
1. Asian Vegan Dishes
Asian cuisine contains virtually no dairy products and naturally uses vegetables. From fried noodles to various curries--you name it, they can be made with vegetables.
But be careful, curries and other Asian dishes, use fish sauce as a basic ingredient. You can alternate this with regular table salt or pink Himalayan salt.
2. Vegan Protein Bars & Bites
Today, there are a lot of vegan protein bars made of popular superfoods that fight cravings. They’re made of nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and other natural additives.
Sugar-free and nut-free bars are also available. These bars are handy especially when you’re too busy to prepare a healthy breakfast for your kids. You can supplement their basic PB&J with vegan protein bars, for example.
3. Fruits, Nuts & Seeds
Nuts are ideal snacks because they’re packed with essential fatty acids & vitamins, they’re convenient to take anywhere and, of course, vegan!
These little pieces ensure you get a feeling of fullness quickly and your hunger is kept within limits.
Along with nuts, fruit slices are also handy snacks to satisfy pangs of hunger. Bananas, apples, pears, grapes, berries are all easy to pack together with your gluten-free sandwich or just take them as is.
Fruit slices are also popular for kids. You can make your own trail mix with your favorite dried fruit pieces, nuts and seeds.
And as easy to make are vegan energy balls from these same ingredients. Here’s a recipe for you.
4. Veggie Chips and Dips
Tired of the ‘ol homemade potato chips? Try beetroot, carrot, parsnips, kale, zucchini or sweet potatoes!
Yep, these homemade veggie chips are really cheap!
You can bake almost any vegetable, thinly sliced with a little splash of vegetable oil and your own spices. Put them in the oven at around 150°C until they are nice and crispy.
If you want to experiment more, try roasted chickpeas! With an extra vegan dip, snacking becomes a real experience.
But why not just dip fresh & raw vegetable sticks? Dip carrot or cucumber sticks into your homemade vegan dip.

5. No-cheese Cheese Sticks
Here’s what you’ll need for a whole sheet full of delicious crispy sticks
250 g frozen vegan puff pastry
150 g cashew nuts
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp yeast flakes
1 tsp lemon juice
1 onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic
Salt & pepper
To prepare:
6. Popcorn
The most popular movie snack is popcorn, as we all know.
Vegan version is freshly popped fresh corn kernels with herbal salt.
Or a healthier alternative is puffed quinoa which you can definitely make at home!
7. Gummy bears
Just because some gummy bears available without gelatin doesn't mean they are vegan. In long lists of ingredients, it is difficult to recognize the hidden animal products at all.
Even dried berries or homemade fruit gums made from syrup and the vegan gelling agent agar agar are much more transparent.
8. Cookies
Small pieces of chocolate in a crispy biscuit dough really look good. However, cookies from the supermarket usually don’t contain enough nutrients and they’re always too sweet.
Homemade raw food cookies or brownies made from just four natural vegan ingredients are clearly the better snack alternative.
9. Chocolate
Almost all of us just can’t do without chocolate!
Fortunately, homemade chocolate made from cocoa butter, cocoa powder and agave syrup is ideal for experimenting with other ingredients such as raisins, nuts, seeds and berries.
This is a healthier and cheaper alternative to finished chocolate, but also the more creative.
10. Energy bars
Mass produced power bars can be expensive. And you’re not always sure of the ingredients.
Similar to protein bars, you can make energy bars or balls yourself by using natural ingredients like dried fruits, nuts and seeds.
You can also take them on the go, or simply store in the fridge to enjoy anytime you like.
Here are some vegan protein bars, bites and balls recipes you can definitely make at home:
